ஸ்ரீபெரும்பதூர் என்றவுடன் நமக்கு நினைவுக்கு வருவது ஸ்ரீ ராமானுஜர் அவதார இடமும் அங்கே அமைந்துள்ள ஆதிகேசவ பெருமாள் கோயிலும் . இதே ஊரில் நாம் அதிகம் அறியப்படாத பல்லவர் மற்றும் சோழர்கள் திருப்பணி செய்த சிவன் கோயிலும் உள்ளது . ஆம் இந்த ஊரில் பெருமாள் கோயிலுக்கு மிக அருகிலேயே பூதகணங்கள் கட்டிய மிக பழமையான பூதபுரீஸ்வரர் என்ற திருநாமத்தோடு சிவன் கோயில் உள்ளது . புராணகாலத்தில் இக்கோயிலானது பூதபுரி என்று அழைக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது .
இக்கோயினது கிழக்கு மற்றும் மேற்கு என இருபுறமும் நுழைவு வாயில் உள்ளது . கிழக்கு நுழைவு வயலின் வழியே உள்ளே சென்றால் பலிபீடம் , கொடிக்கம்பம் மற்றும் நந்தியை நாம் தரிசிக்கலாம் . சன்னதிக்கு செல்ல தெற்கு பக்கம் நுழைவு வாயில் உள்ளதால் ,நந்திக்கு முன் கிழக்கு நோக்கி ஜாலம் கொடுக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது .
அப்படியே நாம் தெற்கு பக்கம் உள்ள நுழைவு வாயிலின் வழியே உள்ளே சென்றால் அர்தமண்டபத்தை அடையலாம் , தெற்கு வாசலில் முன் உள்ள மண்டப தூண்களில் கஜ சம்ஹாரமூர்த்தி ,கண்ணப்பர் புராணம் ,அர்ஜுனனின் தவம் ஆகியவைகள் மிக அழகாக செதுக்கப்பட்டுள்ளன . அர்த்தமண்டபத்தில் துவாரகபாலகர்கள் ,சிவகாமியுடன் நடராஜர் ,மாணிக்கவாசகர் , மேற்கு நோக்கி இரண்டு பைரவர்கள் உள்ளார்கள் அதில் ஒரு பைரவருக்கு நாய் வாகனம் இல்லாமல் உள்ளார் . இவருக்கு இங்கு தேய்பிறை அஷ்டமி அன்று மிகவும் விசேஷ பூஜைகள் நடைபெறுகிறது . மற்றும் அர்த்தமண்டபத்தில் உள்ள தூண்களில் வியாக்ரபாதர் ,பதஞ்சலி முனிவர் ,பைரவர் ,உமா மகேஸ்வரி,ரிஷபாரூடர்கள்,முனிகள் வழிபட்ட தட்சிணாமூர்த்தி ,சிவன் பார்வதி திருமண கோலம் ,காளியின் நர்த்தனம் மற்றும் இக்கோயிலில் உள்ள சிறப்பான சிற்பமான சிவனின் முடியைக்காண பிரம்மன் அன்னப்பறவையாகவும், அடியைக்காண விஷ்ணு வராகமாகவும் மாறி சென்று காணும் லிங்கோத்பவர் அவதார கதையை சொல்லும் சிற்பம் மிக அழகாக செதுக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது . இங்கு கூரையில் பதஞ்சலி ,வியாக்ரபாதர் மற்றும் முனிவர்கள் ரிஷிகள் சிற்பங்கள் உள்ளது இந்த அமைப்பு வேற எங்கும் அதிகம் காணமுடியாத ஒரு அமைப்பாகும் .
கருவறையில் இறைவன் பூதபுரீஸ்வரர் அன்பையும் அருளையும் அள்ளித்தருகிறார் , அவரை வணங்கிவிட்டு வெளியே வந்தால் நாம் கோஷ்டமூர்த்திகளாக ,மகா கணபதி ,தட்சிணாமூர்த்தி ,மக விஷ்ணு ,பிரம்மா மற்றும் துர்க்கை உள்ளார்கள் .
வெளி பிரகாரத்தை வலம் வந்தால் நாகர்கள் ,புற்றுஅம்மன், மரத்தின் கீழ் வர சித்தி விநாயகர் சன்னதி , ஒரு மண்டபம் ,வள்ளி ,தேவசேனா சமேத சுப்ரமணியர் சன்னதி ,ஆஞ்சநேயர் சன்னதி ,சண்டிகேஸ்வரர் சன்னதி மற்றும் நவகிரஹ சன்னதி உள்ளன .தாயார் சௌந்திரவல்லி தனி சன்னதியில் கிழக்கு நோக்கி காட்சிதருகிறார் .
வரலாறு :
ஒரு முறை சிவபெருமானின் ஆனந்த தாண்டவத்தின்போது அவரது ஆடைகள் நெகிழ்ந்ததாகவும் அதைக் கண்டு பூத கணங்கள் சிரித்ததாகவும் இதனால், கோபம் கொண்ட சிவபெருமான் கையிலாத்தை விட்டு பூதகணங்களை அகலுமாறு உத்தரவு பிறப்பித்திருக்கிறார்.
தங்கள் தவறை உணர்ந்து சிவபெருமானை நோக்கி பூதகணங்கள் கடுந்தவம் புரிந்தன. இதனால் மனம் குளிர்ந்த சிவபெருமான், பூதகணங்களுக்கு காட்சி கொடுத்து, தவறை மன்னித்தார்.
தங்களை மன்னித்த சிவபெருமானுக்கு கோயில் எழுப்ப பூதகணங்கள் விரும்பின. சிவபெருமானின் அனுமதியுடன் பூதகணங்கள் இக்கோயிலை காட்டுளார்கள் . இந்த புராணத்தை இங்குள்ள தூண்கள் மற்றும் அர்த்தமண்டபத்தில் உள்ள கூரையில் உள்ள ரிஷிகள் முனிவர்கள் உள்ள சிற்பத்தின் மூலம் நமக்கு தெரியவருகிறது . தட்சணாமூர்த்தியையும் இரண்டு ரிஷிகள் வழிபட்டுள்ளனர்.
கல்வெட்டுகள் :
இக்கோயிலில் நிறைய கல்வெட்டுகள் உள்ளன . இங்குள்ள கல்வெட்டுகள் மூலம் இவ்விடமானது கைதவச்சதுர்வேதி மங்கலம் என்று குறிப்பிடப்பட்டுள்ளது .இக்கோயிலானது பல்லவர்காலத்தில் கட்டப்பட்டதாகவும் , சோழர்கள் மற்றும் விஜயநகரத்தார்களால் விரிவுபடுத்தப்பட்டுள்ளதாக இங்குள்ள கல்வெட்டுகள் மூலம் தெரிகிறது .

செல்லும் வழி :
சென்னை முதல் பெங்களூர் தேசிய நெடுஞ்சாலையில் சுமார் 55 km தொலைவில் ஸ்ரீபெரும்புதூர் உள்ளது . நெடுஞ்சாலையில் உள்ள ஒரு பெட்ரோல் பங்க் முன்புறம் சாலையை ஒட்டியவாறு கிழக்கு நுழைவுவாயில் உள்ளது . பெருமாள் கோயில் தேர் உள்ள சாலையை கடந்து சென்றால் இடதுபுறம் ஐயப்பன் கோயில் வளைவு வரும் அதன் அருகில் உள்ள தெருவில் வழியாக சென்றால் கோயிலின் மேற்கு நுழைவு வாயிலை அடையலாம்.

The way to go:
Sriperumbudur is about 55 km on the first Bangalore National Highway in Chennai. A petrol punk on the highway is at the eastern entrance as the front of the road.
